A Wire Wound Power Inductor is a circuit element whose primary function is to store energy through a magnetic field. When current flows through an inductor, the change in current creates a magnetic field around the inductor. According to Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction, the varying current generates an induced electromotive force (EMF) inside the inductor that opposes the change in current. The inductor opposes the change in current and therefore acts as a smoothing current fluctuation, energy storage and filtering.
